    Understanding Release Pending

What release pending means, why it exists, and what moves a transaction out of it.

    Sellers1 min read

Release pending sits between buyer confirmation and settlement released. It is the point at which the release is prepared against your settlement destination.

    What it means

    • The buyer side of the transaction is complete.
    • The release is being prepared against your settlement destination.
    • The transaction is no longer open to the buyer review path.

    What moves it forward

Release pending clears to settlement released once the release is executed. Where a settlement destination is incomplete or a verification requirement is outstanding, the transaction stays in release pending and the outstanding item is shown on your account.

    Reading it in your books

Treat release pending as receivable, not received. Recognise the amount when the transaction shows settlement released — see Settlement and reconciliation.
